Martin varnish is a type of resin-based varnish, renowned for its quality and durability. Its history dates back to 18th-century France, when craftsmen and cabinetmakers began developing finishing techniques to enhance wooden furniture and objects. The name "Martin" is often associated with a family of craftsmen, particularly the workshop of Martin de la Vallée, who perfected this varnishing technique.
