The idea for the Reverso originated in India, where British officers were playing polo. One player, frustrated by repeated damage to his watch during matches, asked businessman César de Trey to find a solution. De Trey passed this challenge on to Jacques-David LeCoultre, who collaborated with French engineer René-Alfred Chauvot to design an innovative case.
